Orange Face Tang also known as the Eye Spot Surgeonfish, Black Spot Tang or Black Spot Surgeonfish are found from Mozambique and Maldives to the western Pacific.
The Orange Face Tang is a hard-to-find gem. While juveniles may not feature standout colouration, with maturity and proper care, this fish develops beautiful orange accent markings against deep blues, blacks, and browns.
In its natural habitat, the Orange Face Tang is generally found in deeper coastal reef slopes and outer reef walls. A larger aquarium with large amounts of live rock is necessary to provide both plenty of swimming room as well as territories within the live rock.
Although tangs will eat meaty foods along with the other fish in the aquarium, it is important that they are offered plenty of marine based seaweed and algae foods. This will strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression and improve their overall health. Offer dried seaweed tied to a rock or use a veggie clip, and feed at least 3 times per week. These are great fish for controlling algae in the saltwater fish or reef aquarium.
