Cowfish - LongHorn, Lactoria cornuta
Cowfish - LongHorn, Lactoria cornuta
A peaceful fish that is best kept with other non-aggressive species due to it being easily spooked. If this fish gets stressed it can release a toxin into the water which can wipe out a tank. This is rare but if you see the cowfish being picked on or near death remove the fish or the cause of the aggression. If the toxin has been released then do water changes.
For this very reason, longhorn cowfish are not recommended for the beginner marine fish keeper. They are, however, growing in popularity as a home aquarium fish, making a comprehensive care guide essential.
