This is a very hardy aquarium species that will readily adapt to captive fare. They are a very impressive species; they look like a deep-water butterfly but carry a cheaper price tag. It can be housed with a wide range of tank mates including more belligerent species if kept in a more aggressive community setting however, the aquarium should be reasonably large and the Barber Butterflyfish should be one of the first fish introduced. More than one fish of these fish can be housed in the same tank but plenty of space and simultaneous introduction is necessary to ensure that they will get along. It is possible to keep it within a soft coral reef.
