Banana Fish, Pentapodus nemurus
The Banana fish is a slender fish with a bright blue colour and yellow lateral stripes. It is easy to care for fish and will get along with other peaceful fish. It primarily scouts the substrate in search of parasites to eat. Best in a fish only tank as it can grow to beteween 6- 9inches with long trailing tails. Banana fish are very active fish and need a lot of open swimming space and will do best in tanks that have lots of live rock in them as well. Banana fish will spend a lot their days going through the rock looking for small inverts to eat. Small groups of Banana fish can be kept together in larger tanks without fear of aggression as well.
Banana fish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp and high quality meaty frozen foods will be perfect for juvenile Banana fish. As your Banana fish get larger it'll need more substantial foods like small pieces of fresh seafood.
Mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items will provide good nutrition.
