Alligator Pipefish, Syngnathoides biaculeatus

The Alligator Pipefish, Syngnathoides biaculeatus, is also known as the Double-ended Pipefish and the Green Pipefish. These fish come from Indo-Pacific region. They have a long, slender body that is yellow to green in color. They use their tail to grab objects and anchor themselves in place.

Pipefish are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as live and frozen brine shrimp, mysis, and krill. They are weak swimmers and will eat food as it floats through the water column.

They require an aquarium of at least 30 gallons with minimal water flow, very peaceful tankmates, and plenty of live rock and sand. Make sure your intake/overflow is covered so they do not get sucked in. They do well in tanks with seahorses.

They are reef safe and will not bother corals or other fish. They will only eat the tiniest of invertebrates
