Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish (Dendrochirus brachypterus)

Lion - Fuzzy Dwarf (Dendrochirus brachypterus) peaceful Lion Fuzzy dwarf species is naturally reclusive during daylight hours, and must be provided with ample shady retreats amongst the décor such as dark caves and rocky overhangs. Well filtered water with a decent current is essential. Tankmates should be chosen with care, as small fish and shrimp will be eaten, yet the Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish is easily harassed by larger, more belligerent species which may prevent it from getting its fair share of food. In larger, well-filtered aquaria, this is a species that may be kept in good sized groups (5+) if introduced simultaneously when juveniles and where plenty of visual barriers are present. However, do observe carefully as every set up is different and individual personalities vary. Juveniles may only venture out when food is offered; however, given a bit of time, Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish frequently learn to recognize their owner and adults often respond to their presence. Check that any fish you intend to buy are feeding on frozen foods prior to purchasing. There are several geographical color variants including red, brown, and a very attractive yellow form. *Caution: this species has venomous spines*

Feeding

Will consume a wide range of meaty fare including Mysis shrimp, vitamin-enriched brineshrimp, finely shaved krill/prawns etc. Feed small amounts 3 times per day.
